Hsiao-Yen is an author, illustrator and graphic designer who living in California with her husband and two daughters. She was born in Hong-Kong and grew up in Taiwan, she started doodling at a very young age and early on developed a great interest in drawing and painting. Yen has both BFA and MFA degrees in illustration from Academy of Art University in San Francisco .

 

She was the lead artist at Hands-on-Prints publishing company in addition to working full-time as an illustrator of books. Her illustrations have appeared in children's picture books, children's clothing, an advertisement, or children’s educational teaching materials. She has been publishing children's book since 2010 and over 10 years freelance working experiences in graphic design, logo, digital or traditional illustration and UI design. Now, she working for Volare studio/Volotot as a graphic illustrator of children's products.

She won Moonbeam Children's Book Silver Prize for "A Persistent Vine" in the 'Picture Book - All Ages' category in 2013.
